Dear Parents,
It is with great joy that I welcome you to this process of preparing your children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion. I am pleased to join with you in the introduction of your children to these important sacraments. It is my hope that you will continue to support your children in their faith by practicing the Catholic faith with them through your own example, especially by participating in the Sunday Mass and praying with them daily.
We are blessed to have Catholic Schools in our parish, which assist us in teaching the faith to the children. This help is very important to the parish in helping the children understand and practice their faith in their school environment.
On a parish level we will be involved in the immediate preparation for the sacraments. I am happy to welcome Sr. Teresa Joseph and Sr. Michael Daniel, from the community of Sisters of Our Lady Immaculate, as catechists. They will be assisting me in teaching the children the essentials of our Catholic faith. We will begin our preparations for the sacrament of Reconciliation with four lessons and a retreat before we celebrate this sacrament in December. In January we will continue our lessons by focusing on the sacrament of Holy Communion, which will include five lessons, and a retreat. Celebration of First Holy Communion will take place at the end of April and beginning of May. Please see the complete schedule of all events, listed below.
